Hard work, focused effort and years of partnership between Blue Zones Project and city leaders has once again put Fort Worth on a list of the highest performing cities in America when it comes to improving the day-to-day quality of life, well-being and health of its citizens.

For the second consecutive year, Fort Worth has been recognized by CityHealth, a national initiative of the de Beaumont Foundation and Kaiser Permanente, with an overall bronze medal for implementing evidence-based, health-focused policies. In the individual policy categories, Fort Worth received a gold medal for embracing a Complete Streets mentality in city planning efforts; a gold medal for tobacco policy; and silver medals for smoke-free indoor air and healthy food procurement efforts to earn the overall bronze.

National recognition at this scale is a badge of honor for Fort Worth and is the result of years of partnership between city leaders and Blue Zones Project. A well-being initiative brought to Fort Worth by the city, the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce, Texas Health Resources and other local funders, Blue Zones Project worked with city leaders to design and implement significant policy initiatives. The goal: to make healthy choices easier citywide and make Fort Worth one of the safest, most accessible, equitable and walkable large cities in the United States.

Blue Zones Project engaged Dan Burden, a nationally recognized authority on bicycle and pedestrian facilities and programs, street corridor and intersection design, traffic flow and other design and planning aspects of roadway environments. Burden offered input and training for city staff that ultimately led to the adoption of a Complete Streets Policy in 2016. In 2019, the city went one step further by adopting an Active Transportation Plan to connect bicycle and pedestrian transportation systems and provide a safe network of trails, sidewalks and on-street bicycle facilities for people of all ages and abilities.

In 2021, Blue Zones Project—now fully under Texas Health’s nonprofit outreach arm, North Texas Healthy Communities—is bringing Burden back to provide ongoing education and training designed to keep that policy top of mind in all city planning efforts. Burden and the Blue Zones Project team will also lead walking audits to study corridors and intersections throughout the city that are high risk for pedestrian and bicycle crashes.

Meanwhile, Fort Worth has stepped up its internal efforts by restructuring a city department to house a regional mobility and innovation officer and adding a Complete Streets manager. “Fort Worth is setting the bar for walkability, bicycling, placemaking, and well-being. These hard-won honors in active transportation demonstrate that this community values people and place over car speed and development sprawl,” said Burden, director of innovation and inspiration for Blue Zones, LLC. “Over the last eight years, Blue Zones has had the privilege of supporting and being witness to Fort Worth’s accomplishments in the built environment, proving itself with measurable outcomes as one of the best-organized communities in the nation to deliver a future that works for all.”

In addition to the CityHealth award, Fort Worth was also recently recognized by the League of American Bicyclists with a bronze Bicycle Friendly Community award. Fort Worth joins 487 communities across the country in the movement for safer streets and better bicycling for everyone.

“These recent awards are more recognition that our city is committed to improving the quality of life of all who live and work here,” said Matt Dufrene, vice president of Blue Zones Project Fort Worth. “Blue Zones Project is proud to partner with our innovative city leaders as we work together to become one of the healthiest cities in the nation.”

FDA FINALLY RELEASES MERCURY WARNING A hundred years after dentists started using mercury in dental fillings, the FDA has finally decided “certain high-risk groups” should avoid the dental amalgam because of “harmful health effects.” Some are even calling for a complete abolishment of the archaic practice, which is missing proper safety science, while thousands of peer-reviewed articles support ending its use.

DELTA variant hysteria exposes the sobering truth: Covid vaccines don’t work, and “variants” are pushed as scare stories to demand more vaccines, mask mandates and destructive lockdowns | Mike Adams |

We have now reached a stunning tipping point in the global push for mass vaccinations that inject people with spike protein bioweapons. New research finds that “fully vaccinated” individuals are suffering an eight times higher mortality rate than the non-vaccinated. And a stunning report out of the UK finds that 62% of those dying from covid are people who have been vaccinated. The covid vaccine, it turns out, doesn’t really work. More specifically, it doesn’t provide non-specific immunity to even slight variations in coronavirus morphology. While natural immunity produces more “general” antibodies that work against all sorts of variants, the covid vaccine — consisting of spike protein bioweapons being injected into human guinea pigs as part of a global medical experiment — provides little or no immunity against viral variants (even assuming it works against the original strain, which is quite a leap). The implications of this are profound. It means that people who have chosen the vaccine route instead of the natural immunity route will be forever dependent on “booster” shots to try to address each new variant as mutations appear in the wild. This means repeated injections with more bioweapons, and it means the covid vaccines that were originally promoted as a pathway to “freedom” and immunity are no such thing. It’s more like an addiction to the needle, because you need endless injections just to stay current, since viruses constantly mutate in the wild. While a naturally immune person has achieved true freedom with a fully functioning immune system, a vaccine-dependent person has no general protections and must live in constant fear that a new mutation will suddenly render their existing, limited antibodies completely obsolete. Yet vaccine passports are given to the vaccinated — the most vulnerable — not those who have achieved far more powerful natural immunity. This is just one of the many ways the entire plandemic response is actually designed to continue spreading the infections so that lockdowns, mask mandates and vaccine mandates can be gleefully justified by power-drunk bureaucrats and medical tyrants (like Fauci).

Delta variant vaccine failure now used to demand return to lockdowns, masks and social distancing

A Carb-Centric Diet Helped Me Recover from Type 2 Diabetes | Forks Over Knives

Amy had resigned herself to a life of diabetes, but after her husband had a heart attack, they decided it was time to make a big lifestyle change.

Diabetes has plagued my family for generations. I have early childhood memories of my grandma eating chocolate cake and saying, “I’ll just increase my insulin.” So, when I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes at age 48, I wasn’t surprised. My doctor prescribed three medications and told me to eat healthy and exercise.

My exercise routine included a two-mile walking commute to work and an occasional run, but I was still obese. To increase my activity, I tried running more, but I couldn’t complete a full mile without walking.

So, I looked at our diets. We ate pescatarian. I wasn’t much of a cook, so convenience foods were part of our daily lives. Our favorite meals included pizza, fish tacos, and sandwiches of cheese and canned tuna. I took a diabetes nutrition class, where I was taught to count carbs (i.e., to limit potatoes, corn, and fruits) and add more protein through eggs and cheese.

With medication, my glucose levels dropped. I accepted that these medications would be with me for life. But after two years on the diabetes medications, my weight was unchanged, and I had pain in my hands, wrists, shoulders, and neck. My doctor diagnosed me with polyarthritis (inflammation in three or more joints), and my medication list grew. At this point, I knew something needed to change. I was too young and active to be in this much pain. I had heard about the benefits of a whole-food, plant-based diet from a good friend of ours. But my family wasn’t interested in changing, and I didn’t have the willpower to do it on my own.

Then, my husband, Rod, suffered a widowmaker heart attack at age 52. Luckily, he made it to the hospital in time for a stent to correct a 100 percent blockage. Afterward, he, too, was ready for a change.

Transitioning to a WFPB diet required rethinking what we knew about nutrition. Having been told to avoid carbs in my diabetes nutrition class, at first I was afraid to eat fruit, whole grains, and starchy vegetables. But I quickly realized that I could eat an abundance of these foods each day without blood sugar spikes. We thought giving up cheese would be difficult, but after a week, the cravings were gone. I began to spend more time at the grocery store reading labels and understanding nutrition.

After two weeks on the diet, we began to savor the wonderful flavors of food without all the butter, oil, and rich sauces. We found sustenance through potatoes, rice, beans, and corn, and discovered a wide variety of greens to enjoy with vinegar-based dressings. Quickly, our energy levels increased, and we didn’t feel the need to nap in the afternoon anymore. The surprise really came when we stepped on the scales each week and saw the weight loss.

As much as I didn’t enjoy cooking before, after going plant-based it became a fun challenge. I remember making my own hummus for the first time (to avoid the added oil found in most store-bought hummus). I had to watch a YouTube video to learn how to peel garlic. If I can learn to prepare and cook a WFPB diet, so can you!

We’ve maintained a whole-food, plant-based lifestyle for nearly two years now. We’ve lost more than 40 pounds each, and our BMIs are now in the normal range. Friends who we haven’t seen in a while have walked right by us, not recognizing us because of the weight loss.

I run 15 to 20 miles a week and ran my first half-marathon. I was able to eliminate all diabetes medications, and my joint inflammation is far reduced with less medicine. My husband is off all heart medications as well. To say it simply, a WFPB lifestyle gave us our lives back. C

‘Make-A-Wish’ to Terminally Ill Kids: Take the Vaccine or Die Without Your Wish

Equipping Readers with The Truth

A new announcement about vaccine requirements from the Make-A-Wish America foundation has crossed the line into downright evil.

UPDATE, June 28, 2021: Following the publication of this story, Make-A-Wish released a statement saying it will not require vaccinations before granting wishes:

“We understand that there are many families whose children aren’t eligible for the vaccine yet, and we also know that there are families who are choosing to not get the vaccine. We respect everyone’s freedom of choice. Make-A-Wish will continue to grant wishes for all eligible children. Make-A-Wish will not require anyone to get vaccinated to receive a wish.

“Any child fighting a critical illness is eligible for Make-A-Wish. While it does not reflect the majority of children we serve, we do occasionally serve children whose medical provider has determined that the child will not survive their illness. In time-sensitive situations involving an end-of-life diagnosis, a special process has been and will continue to be in place regardless of vaccination status.”

This article remains below as published:

The left’s attempt to force coronavirus vaccines on every American has been both baffling and frustrating. Now, a new announcement from the Make-A-Wish America foundation has crossed the line into downright evil.

According to its website, Make-A-Wish America exists to “create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.” (This includes children with terminal illnesses and those who grow into adulthood.) But apparently, those “life-changing wishes” are only for those who subject themselves to the organization’s preferred government regulations.

In a video posted to Twitter Thursday, Make-A-Wish America President and CEO Richard Davis explains the foundation will lift certain COVID-19 restrictions, but only for children who are vaccinated.
